Get to know Ashlee Kraus

I'm asking for your vote to represent City of Austin employees as a City Vice President on the Executive Board of AFSCME Local 1624. I have been with Austin Public Health for nearly four years, and an active union member since 2022. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (#63498) and, prior to my position with COA, I worked tirelessly in other areas of public service at the State and Federal level. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the needs of workers and the strengths we can leverage for big wins in collective advocacy.

I'm the daughter of a labor union member and understand the importance of raising collective voices to create change and fairness for all workers. I look forward to collaborating with Members to understand the employment issues that are most impacting them, and plan to come to every executive board meeting with these issues in mind. I commit to bringing diversity, equity and inclusion principles to the executive board using my expertise in trauma informed practice and the social determinants of health equity to ensure members have the opportunity to benefit from a union that actively represents all of us.
