Get to know Whitney Holt

I currently work for Travis County Health & Human Services and prior to that worked for the City for 2.5 years. The majority of my time at the City was with Austin Public Health as the health equity funding specialist for our nonprofit partners.

I, like many of us, became a lot more involved with our union during the telework fight and wanted a clear pathway for us workers to more meaningfully support staff’s efforts. I was one of several board candidates who spent hours each week preparing research, talking with reporters, and presenting to City boards and commissions. It was through this work that I realized there is a huge gap (and therefore opportunity) in our union when it comes to organizing our workers for a cause- including but definitely not limited to telework.

I have 12 years of nonprofit experience- including in a director role- and have experience organizing volunteers, advising nonprofit finances, maximizing media opportunities, and presenting policy recommendations. My hope is that as Secretary Treasurer I can ensure the financial health of our union and find ways so that everyone who wants to be more plugged into the union has a path to do so.
